| Please recycle and koku'a | | There's more you can do to help besides conserving water and electricity and recycling.
-Donate clothes to thrift stores or do a garage sale.
-Plant an herb garden.
-Shop locally and support your local business.
-Purchase biodegradable cleaner and sponges. (Vinegar is a perfect cleaner)
-Throw cooking oil in trash instead of the sink.
-Use reusable rags instead of paper towels.
-Carpool.
-Open windows rather than the AC or use fans.
-Avoid using harmful hair products.
-Adopt pets rather than purchasing at pet stores (this also helps prevent more and more puppy mills and killings in the pound)what do you do to save the environment?

| | | What's the reason to sing recycle song? | | I have seen many bands or singers really like to sing old song and recycle it becomes their new version..I guess it's like a good strategy to gain popularity more easier than sing new song since people will recognize the old song and not hard to listen again even they modify some part of the song or do lot of improvisation on it..I think it's fair enough since not easy to create new song and gain success instantly..What do you think? Is there any particular reason for new or establish artists when they decide to sing old song? | |

| Recycle craft for Earth Day | | I am teaching an art class on Earth day to a bunch of first graders and thoguht I would share it with you.
My mother in law recently showed me that a regular can opener (electric or manual) will take the top off a soda can without leaving a sharp edge[em]shocked[/em]TOO COOL. For this class we will be not only removing the top but also using a hole punch to make a hole right under the silver edge. I will be making a hole with the metal floded inwards to avoid sharp edges in the front about half way up the can. The kids then cover the can in paper and whatever else they want to use to decorate it (nothing shiny it scares the birds) and stringing twine through the hole at the top to hang it in the trees. Once dry fill up to hole in front with bird seed and hang. You kept the can out of the trash and will get many happy visitors in your yard to watch.[em]wub[/em]
Happy Earth Day.
PSEarth Day I will not be online as we are turning off everything we don't have to have on (the fridge and deep freezers)starting at 8 am until 8 pm.Feel free to join us even if it's only for an hour. | |
| | | What kind of items do you recycle? Tips for organizing? | | Our city has recently started a recycling program and I know they take paper like newspapers, magazines etc and soda bottles. Does anyone know what other kinds of plastic can be recycled? Do you recycle and if so how do you organize it? I don't want my garage to attract bugs or anything else so trying to think of a good way to recycle without having to scrub things out first. They only pick up 2x a month or every other week so items are likely to be sitting for abit between pick ups. Any input would be appreciated!! | |

| does your family recycle | | My fiancee's family loves to recycle things all of the time. Its kind of cool that they do that cause in my family we don't do that because of where we live. It coast a lot of money to recycle where our house is. We would do but it's money that we don't have. Does your family recycle? Do you think your taking part in saving the world from all of the trash we have? | |
| | Do you recycle a lot? | | We try to recycle. But it is so hard to do it. It is time consuming but if are in a habit it is pretty easy. My parents will throw everything in a bag instead of putting in in separate bins that are supplied by the city. They will though collect the cans and turn them in or if they are traveling they will do this with the bottles. That's about it. What about you, what are your recycling habits? | |
| | Reduce, reuse, recycle Easter or how to not spend much for Easter. | | I usually don't spend much for Easter.Reuse Easter baskets from year to year (my parents taught us that. Our baskets would be left out for the Easter Bunny to fill and put back in the closet high up where we couldn't see or reach them with a bag over them so they wouldn't get dusty.)Reduce and reuse paper shredded paper and envelopes of different light pastel colors from snail mail for the Easter "grass" in the basket. That can be packed away in the baskets or separately for next year). Or cut up pastel-colored plastic bags to use as grass. Or a combination.Reuse plastic eggs from last year. They can be refilled. Or just for decoration eggs: recycle chicken or other eggs by poking out each end of white eggs, blowing the eggs out to use for scrambled eggs, use the outside of the eggs for to dye. Beat juice, cabbage juice, onion juice, etc. can be made from the peels of those veggies or if you don't add the regular juice to soups or stews, you can use them to dye the eggs. Some people boil eggs for Easter, they cam be dyed, too. But kept them in a fridge until peeled and eaten. Don't use for Easter egg hunts as someone often forgets to find one and the rotten egg smell... | |
